ROCKY MOUNTAIN BALLET THEATRE WILL PERFORM IN DUBAI, UAE FOR THE WORLD EXPO 2020.
(Missoula, MT.) - Rocky Mountain Ballet Theatre (RMBT) is going on the road again this December to bring Montana to the world. This time to Dubai for the Expo 2020.
Originally scheduled for October 20 2020 to April 10 2021, it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite being postponed, organizers kept the name Expo 2020 for marketing and branding purposes.
RMBT is one of 84 performing art groups from the USA invited to perform at the Expo. World Expos, also known as World’s Fairs, are great opportunities for countries to express their values and display their technology, advancing their interests around the world. Since 1851, the World’s Fair has brought people together from every corner of the globe to innovate, collaborate and showcase the future.
This World Expo marks a pivotal moment in history, as the first Expo to be held in the Middle East. Expo 2020 Dubai - with its theme of “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future” - will provide a platform to foster creativity, innovation and collaboration within the Middle East and beyond. The U.S. Department of State is responsible for U.S. participation in international exhibitions, such as Expo 2020 Dubai.
At Expo 2020 Dubai, the United States of America will celebrate “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of the Future.” This powerful theme reflects America’s commitment to promoting prosperity, opportunity, and innovation globally and domestically. Exhibits, events, and programs will showcase the United States as a strong and trusted partner for peace, progress, and security throughout Expo 2020 Dubai.
Under the direction of artistic director Charlene Campbell Carey, RMBT will take its Montana themed ballets which offer the flavor of Montana. No RMBT cultural exchange would be complete without the participation of the Native Americans. Two championship dancers from the Salish-Kootenai tribe will be participating. The RMBT group of 15 leaves for Dubai Dec. 6 and performs on various stages throughout the Expo grounds December 9 – 12, 2021.
