Ms. Carreno received a BFA from the University of Wisconsin. She worked for the Milwaukee Ballet Co. and accompanied ballet and modern classes for the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee where she taught Music for Dancers. After moving to Los Angeles in 1986 she worked at California Institute of the Arts, Stanley Holden Dance Center, Loyola Marymount College, and Westside Ballet. Summers she accompanied the Lewitzky Company for their workshops in Idyllwild CA. In 1990 she worked on an episode of “Murder She Wrote” with Charlene Campbell. Her collaboration with Ms. Campbell in TV and dance in Los Angeles led Ms. Carreno to move to Missoula MT when Ms Campbell opened the Rocky Mountain Ballet Theatre in 1998.
At RMBT, Ms. Carreno accompanies classes, works with guest artists, performs with the company, teaches Music for Dancers and works as the associate director. Since 2002 Rocky Mountain Ballet Theatre has taken an international direction and Ms. Carreno has traveled to Italy, Austria and three diplomatic tours to China with RMBT. She has played for class at the Balletto di Roma, National Ballet of China, Beijing Dance Academy, Suzhou Ballet and the Salzburg International Ballet Academy. In 2014 Ms. Carreno returned to China with RMBT to perform with violinist Henry Gronnier for performances in Beijing, Zhengzhou, Nanning, Liozhou and Rong’An. In 2016, Ms. Carreno was part of the organizing team for VIBE USA in Missoula, MT. She also attended VIBE International in Vienna with the USA team and accompanied classes for the international jury.
The RMBT School, along with directors Ms. Campbell and Ms. Carreno were featured in Dance Magazine’s January 2006 issue. Ms. Carreno has released 2 CDs of music for ballet classes.
